The Arts District Chorale is a signature ensemble of gifted amateur and professional singers from all walks of life, recognized for unique and innovative programming of choral masterworks primarily in the world-class cultural venues of the Dallas Arts District
. The Choraleâ€™s work is built upon a shared experience of continuous learning and a commitment to excellence, promoting arts experiences that transform the gathered community, singer and audience member alike.
Flexible levels of participation allow singers to commit to preparations for one event at a time in eight-week segments. Members learn their notes outside of rehearsals and come prepared to make music. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings and occasional Saturday mornings at Episcopal Church of the Incarnation
, 3966 McKinney Avenue at Cambrick Street in Uptown Dallas.
All auditions are by appointment only. At the audition you will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- a good choral voice, not necessary a solo voice
- an ability to blend with other voices
- intonation, rhythm and general musicianship
- ability and enthusiasm to self-teach your part
The audition will last about twenty minutes. You will be asked to vocalize, to sight-read two short choral pieces, and to repeat some short phrases by ear. You will not be asked to sing from memory. In addition, you will be asked to prepare the following:
