The Arts District Chorale welcomes all singers, both professional and amateur, who share a passion for the choral art as a necessary ingredient of life. We seek to share the beauty and joy of ensemble singing and to perform at the highest level. Our members benefit from the pleasure, personal challenge and satisfaction of singing a broad range of quality music in a variety of Dallas venues, primarily in the Arts District.

Flexible levels of participation allow singers to commit to preparation for one concert at a time in six- to eight-week segments. Members are asked to learn notes outside of rehearsals and come prepared to make music. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at Northway Christian Church, 7202 W. Northwest Highway, just west of Central Expressway on Northwest Highway.

Auditions are scheduled by appointment only. The ADC’s artistic director and a panel of Chorale section leaders conduct the audition. The panel will evaluate your potential as a member in the following areas:

• A good choral voice, not necessary a solo voice
• An ability to blend with other voices
• Intonation, rhythm and general musicianship

The audition lasts about 15 minutes and consists of:

• Vocalization to determine voice range and quality
• Brief sight-reading exercise
• Optional prepared selection. If there is no prepared piece, you will be asked to sing something familiar chosen by the panel, e.g., a hymn or folk song. An accompanist will be provided
• Ability and willingness to self-teach your part
