Worldly Joy and Sacred Music
The last of a series of compositions Rossini intriguingly called “the sins of my old age,” the Petite Messe Solennelle is filled with all the exuberance and intensity of his operas, while retaining the formal elements of the Mass. Originally, the Petite Messe was not written for a church performance, but for a small select audience. Through the Arts District Chorale’s imaginative staging, the sheer variety of Rossini’s music is unlocked and brought to life. Using characters from the commedia dell’arte tradition, Rossini’s delight in the mystery and drama of the Mass is brilliantly underscored.
Ticket prices (in advance) $20 General, $15 Senior (65+) $5 Students. For more information about the concert, e-mail info@artsdistrictchorale.org or call us at (214) 942-5085.

Music of Genius and Obsession
In 1855, Johannes Brahms wrote to Clara Schumann, “I can do nothing but think of you...” It was a messy situation, doomed to become still messier. At the time, Clara was 35, Brahms 21. She was already married—wholly and passionately—to Robert Schumann. But after Robert died, Johannes flew to Clara’s side and never truly left. Their love—filled with regret, talent and obsession—continued until their deaths. The Arts District Chorale attempts to unlock this mysterious tangle of love and genius through musical performances and a reading of the lovers’ letters—a compelling event not to be missed.
| Ticket prices (in advance) $20 General, $15 Senior (65+) $5 Students. For more information about the concert, e-mail info@artsdistrictchorale.org or call us at (214) 942-5085.
