The Apprentice Program supported two students this year, one of whom will be entering 8th grade at Dealey International Academy this fall. She recently completed her first year as an apprentice in the Arts District Chorale apprentice program. During her 7th grade she earned the honor of being first place in her room with her audition for DISD Honor Choir and second place in the over all selection of the Region Choir. She also made a superior rating on her solo piece for Solo and Ensemble and performed in the chorus of the world premier of the opera, “Wading Home”. This Apprentice has a busy summer and is looking forward to serving as an intern with the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas singing camp and attending the Dallas Theater Center musical theater Camp.
The second Apprentice successfully completed the 6th grade at Dealey Montessori School and will be entering Dealey International Academy this fall. She has just finished her second year in the Arts District Chorale Apprentice Program. This apprentice auditioned for the musical version of “A Christmas Carol” being presented in December, 2015 at the Dallas Theater Center. She got the role of Martha, Ebenezer Scrooge’s older sister. Acting singing and dancing, she performed in 22 shows and also performed in the chorus of the world premier of the opera “Wading Home”. She is looking forward to attending camp this summer at the Latino Cultural Center where she will study acting and musical theater.
